mayday, mayday!
Eeek!

my_stitching just pointed out that seller missmelliescloset on Esty is using one of my photos in a lisiting, of course without permission. So not cool!

What do I do now? Contact Esty or the seller? Esty is a bit confusing...

http://www.etsy.com/listing/81070559/on-sale-reproduction-civil-war-victorian?ref=v1_other_1

ETA:
Finally found the Report-This-Listing button so I reported her to Esty. If it's not down in a few hours I'll try contacting her directly I guess. Really she just needs to be banned since she is a repeat offender (she changed her name but it's apparently the same one that used koshka_the_cat's photo last year).

Have a look around folks and if you see any other familiar photos let the owners know so they can report it. I'm sure I'm not the only one...

And by the way thanks heaps my_stitching for your eagle-eye!

ETA:
In addition to the Report-This-Listing I just sent a complaint via the Etsy copyright "Designated Agent". Maybe this will get some action?

how aggravating!! i think katherine dealt with the same problem... i would suggest contacting the seller.

i also recognize another image of a reenacting acquaintance of mine! it absolutely boggles me that people would do this. do they really think they can recreate what you have made without knowing how you did it or what you used? hmph...

Let your friend know so she can report her or contact her to remove the photo. I know it kills me too, like they think they won't get caught.

Contact the seller. They should take the image down. I had something similar happen with a seller on Ebay and after a few emails they finally took it down.
Etsy's a pain about things like this, but here's info on their website:

Yeah I found that article - less than helpful if you ask me. I tried the "Report This Lising" button - maybe that will do the trick. If not I'll contact her. What a pain!

:( So sorry this happened to you. Sucks.

Dude, this woman is a repeat offender. I've been watching her antics for the past year. She steals photos & tries to pass them off as her own work. Then when she gets caught she opens another Etsy shop.

I encourage everyone to report any of her listings or the shop itself.

Scammer never stop do they? *sigh*

I can't take all the credit. The seller's shop was posted on the costume_snark community. The original poster recognized that it was the same person under a new name and several of us set about finding the original owners of her images... one was from the Met! I just happened to be the one that noticed a bonnet was Jenny's Poe Bonnet.

I reported every one of the listings for which we found an original source. And I included the links in the report. I know a few others on costume_snark did the same. Unfortunately, if they handle it on this account like the did on her last account, they will keep letting her get away with it for at least a year or so. They would cancel the listings but she would keep putting them up.

Here is the link to the original post if anyone is a member of that community (or is interested in joining).

Report her

She is a repeat offender. If you contact her she will remove the photo and do it again with another account.

Here is what to do according to etsy:

Re: Report her

Yeah trying to deal with it through Etsy is what I thought... not that she'll stop for good even if we get her banned again. Once an internet scammer always an internet scammer...

A friend of mine who is a very high-end corset maker and doesn't sell on Etsy just had someone pilfer one of her very expensive high-fashion photo-shoot pix. She contacted Etsy and the seller, but so did all her friends. That photo came down post-haste.

Remember the woman who use to haunt the hall (so to speak) of the S&S Pattern board? Wonder if this is one in the same. Don't people know the internet, most especially the Costume Community is a small and tight, someone is bound to see something.

Sad, sad, so sad. Sorry this happened to you Jenny. You work so hard on your projects.
miss_elisabeth From: miss_elisabeth Date: September 29th, 2011 04:56 am (UTC) (link)
Dude. That lady once told me that she was going to name her first born daughter after a friend of mine who was brutally murdered.

I'd really like to know WHY. Seriously. Why troll? Why keep coming back again and again. I swear, it's some psychosis that just compels people to do this.
jennylafleur From: jennylafleur Date: September 29th, 2011 12:51 pm (UTC) (link)
I don't think it is, it doesn't quite fit her MO. She is unfortunaly still around but she isn't too clever about it and has been found out over and over again. They never really go away these scammers.
llyrafantasyfae From: llyrafantasyfae Date: September 29th, 2011 06:50 am (UTC) (link)
I'm glad someone caught it. I can almost guarantee whomever buys it will be sadly disappointed. They won't be getting the same quality as what is shown.

Yeah the price she is charging is about what the supplies run, no probally more since I used really nice velvet.
