a reward
I finished off the back boning channels this afternoon. So I'm really at a stand still on the stays until my fabric comes in.

As a reward for being a good girl and working on the stays this week I've been working on some 18th century frosting, otherwise known as hat making. *evil laugh* Oh I'm having way too much fun!! But more on that later... *wink*

I'd much rather do some frosting than stays - if it consoles you, I am also still stitching on mine...
I long to see pictures of your new hat!!

Tell me about it. If only stays were so necessary! Nice to know I'm not the only one! :>

Just - I am daft enough of hand stitching mine: 4 layers of linnen with linnen thread...

Love the idea of hat frosting! Can't wait to see the result - plumes? Ribbons? Lots of yummy stuff?

All of the above. I've discovered you can't put too much on an 18th century hat - it's impossible - so I'm going to town! :>

One can never have too many "frosted" 18th c. hats! Since I'm in Regency mode at the moment, I realized that 2 of the simple small straw shapes I bought ages ago thinking 1920's will work for Regency. Not as fun or as fluffy as 18th c, but at least I might be able to work down the "unfinished hat bits" stash with them.
