Sign of a crazy schedule when one posts pictures of her weekend fun the following Friday. *whew*
Sunday my Mom and I were invited to attend a tea sponsored by a friend's church. We of course never turn down tea or the chance to spend girlie time with our girlfriends so we said "yes please"!
A fashion show was being presented by the Fredericksburg Victorian Ladies Society so I came very close to wearing my Poe dress or my Erte dress for the heck of it but when I tried them on I found there were tweaks I needed to make and in the end I just didn't feel like the bother of a corset.
Our friend insisted we all wear hats though so I had to come up with a fun hat outfit. I was stumped until I remembered I had this purple twenties-esque dress in my stash. I wore it for Easter a few years ago but not being a huge fan of purple, dispite liking the dress, I packed it away in a bin. So Sunday morning I pulled the dress out of it's bin, grabbed the shoes that matched, hot curled my hair then pined it up, donned my new long pearl necklace and pulled out my chemise dress hat and voila - a tea outfit!
The tea was great fun and I got lots of complements on my attire. People were particularly gratified by our table of hats. The fashion show was entertaining and we gave our info to one of the ladies in the group. I don't know how involved we will want to be but Mom seemed interested and since I can't get her into the 18th century perhaps the Victorian is something we can do together.
