stay breaking
We have sewing progress! The back of the pet en l'air is pleated and stitched down to the lining. I made up a second toile so I could work on the front tweaking. Looking pretty good so I started on the sleeves. I have one pinned in but have reached my curfew. I've learned not to do anything involving a sewing machine after 11pm, it's never a pretty thing. I do have pics but well the camera is in the other room. :P

Ack, my stays definitely need some breaking in. Good news is they give me the pretty shape I want, bad news is they give me a tummy ache. I seem to recall my old stays doing that at first. Forgot about that part. Truth is I really just need to get rid of my too big tummy for the 18th century cone shape... maybe I should take the time to go the gym tomorrow after all... :>

Stays and corsets definitely need breaking in time. Best to do it before they're worn, really. I'm always surprised at just how comfortable mine are when they're on their second wearing. Especially the red quilted corset. I didn't want to admit it, but it gave me a bruise on my side. However, the next time I wore it for an extended period of time, I completely forgot I was wearing it--and no bruising.

So really, the shape is the most important thing :)

So true! Well I have all week of fittings to break them in before Saturday. Although I've found they are usually more comfortable after that first 5+ plus wearing. Only thing is Saturday is all sitting and that is when they are most uncomfortable... :

It's just so natural to want to slouch while sitting--not good in stays! Stays are funny things :)

Most of my breaking in is during fittings. It works surprisingly well. I think I'm more active doing a fitting than just about anything else I do in my stays :)

Fittings are good breaking-in time you are right! My stays are much more comfortable after all the fittings yesterday. I think I'll be okay for Saturday now. How I will drive in them is still a bit of a mystery though. :>
