Mary Doering: Federal Period Clothing
Many thanks to bauhausfrau for letting me know about this! I've seen it posted on LJ few times but just in case you haven't seen it...

What Did They Wear?
Tuesday, October 3, 7-9pm

Mary Doering, private collector and researcher will discuss women’s clothing of the Federal Period. Learn about imported versus domestic clothing, textile production, garment construction, and methods of advertising and procurement. After the lecture, examine original garments from Ms. Doering’s collection. This program is a Jamestown 2007 commemorative event sponsored by the Sully Foundation, Ltd.

Reservations are required by September 29

Sully Historic Site
3601 Sully Road, Chantilly, Virginia 20151
703-437-1794, TTY 703-803-3354

Today is the last day to make a reservation. I saw some of Mary Doering's collection at Sully a few years ago – wonderful things! My favorite fashion era and free - what a lovely way to spend my birthday! (Technically it's not on my birthday but close enough right?!) I hope to see some of you there too! :>

Jenny, give her my best when you go - she is the lady I was introduced to by Alden O'Brien at the DAR Museum and she in turn introduced me to Linda Baumgarten, so if you say you are a friend of mine.................

Have a wonderful time, take copious notes, and please disregard the bright envious green glow emanating from this area!

Wonderful! Make sure you come up and introduce yourself if I don't recognize you right away. Yay - historic clothing and meeting LJ friends, it doesn't get better that that!
