quilting begins

I took a break from the butterfly dress to work my quilted petticoat tonight. Because you can never have just one project at a time, right? :>

I basted all the layers together with safety pins and started on the quilting. I starting to find my stride but I think I’m going to quit for the evening. The silk is lovely but it creates glare that makes the washable pencil hard to see. I need to try and work on this mostly in the day time I think. :>

you really are completely nutty. will you wear this for CC? what did you use to draw/transfer your design? my petticoat is a dark green which means my all time favorite blue washable marker won't really work. not that I'm anywhere near starting the petticoat.

but, cool. this is going to be such a neat project to watch. and it's green! :)

Oops! I deleted my comment - anyway...

Nutty huh? And this coming from the girl who is hand sewing her silk stays?! I shall take that as a compliment m'am. :>

I'm not sure if I will wear it to CC. It depends on if I get around to making the pierrot jacket to go with it or if I decide to bring my red stripe. We'll see.

I used my favorite blue washable pencil. It comes in a package of three (blue, red & white). I usually get them at Wal-Mart but I just saw them in the quilting section of my Joann’s this week.

Huzzah for green costumes!! :>

WOW that's going to be really pretty--I want to make a cream colored quilted petticoat one of these days.

Don't you dare finish yours before I finish mine!! I put it on hold while I did these 5 Tudor ladies, but it is my first project after the weekend.

Well as you are machine quilting and I'm doing it by hand I doubt I will beat you to the finish! Unless you put it on hold again and then I might just give it a try. *hee hee*

Only the main outlines are done by machne - thr rest is by hand - wouldn't you know - I didn't like the machining on the flowers!! Grrrr!

Very interesting! I was given the design by a friend and it was labeled "Allendale feather" but I didn't know what that meant. Thank you very much for the info - I'll love to know more if it's not too much trouble!

It looks very nice so far! I'm envious of your gorgeous hand-quilting!

This is going to be so nice when it is done. This one is your Sterling project in your sewing resume.
