Things that made me happy yesterday: - Dec 3
1. Getting all dolled up in my new favorite 18th century outfit and having a delightful tea with costuming friends in Annapolis.
2. Buying a Baby Lit Pride & Prejudice book for Monkey for Christmas. Is it bad that I got one for me too? :>
3. Seeing Mom's anniversary gift of a 1916 singer treadle sewing machine. They found it antiquing in Williamsburg today, a lovely thing in great condition (it had been fully restored/refurbished in 2006) for a great price. So jealous!

I don't know that it belongs in the "happy" category since it was a bit of a pain and I'm finding it less user friendly than I wanted but I did get a Pinterest account.

I decided to get over the fact that they require you to sign up thru either Twitter or Facebook. I've never had a Twitter and recently deleted my FB so I created a Twitter account which I immediately unconnected from my Pinterest. Take that Pinterest! Really the whole thing is so silly.

Also under the less-than-thrilled-with category is the fact that when you sign up for Pinterest they automatically give you random boards in your "following" section and make it super confusing to get rid of them. (You have to click on the user, then click the "follow" button, which un-follows you - seriously what idiot designed that!)

You'll find my Pinterest here if you want to follow. I've really enjoyed how Jen has been using hers to document historical garments and plan to use mine likewise. I'm also really bad about documenting where I got images from so I'm hoping this will help. I may end up with some random things there too, we'll see.

I love your Happy Things :) I don't always comment, but reading them always makes me smile. I'm thinking about Pinterest too, for exactly the same reasons ;)

Yay, I'm glad my happies make you happy too!

It was a pain to sign up but I'm glad I did. I've found a lot of new images I've never seen before (or found through Google searches). I love that you can follow the links through to the source too, that has been interesting and another good way to find pretties. It can suck up heaps of time but I think it's a good resource and tool. If you want an invite just let me know...

I can't wait to get mine - the preview looks so great. They are also releasing a Jane Eyre version next year... :>

Isn't it silly? Now, since you're not in my recent activity, I'm looking for a way to follow you back. I guess I could always check my email and follow that link, but I'd rather do it without that. I'm stubborn, and it should be easy!

I've been meaning to unlink from Facebook because I like my things separate.

And I totally see why that dress is your favorite! You looked awesome!

Ha! Or I could've followed your link. But I've managed to unlink from Facebook (fun thing, not having a password when you try that) and follow you. They should make it more straightforward! I suppose it is new though. Looking forward to what you post!

Yeah, geeks designed their interface I think. (Not that I am disparaging geeks, I love geeks. They just shouldn't design interfaces. :>)

I plan to go crazy with it over Christmas... the next week or so will be too insane!

Yeah, all the interlinking with FB is annoying but it's how they make thier money (or want to make money in the future). Oh well.

Aww... thanks!

I saw your dress in Maggie's photos from Anapolis, and I love the dark colors of it. Looks really nice for this time of year.

I had your very same frustrations with Pinterest when signing up. I do have FB, so I used that, then IMMEDIATELY disconnected. Although they do make it hard to do that, yes. It really IS silly to require it. But it's totally useable now and I really like it. It's helped for collecting research tidbits and home decorating inspiration, as well, particularly since Delicious still hasn't integrated with any newer version of Firefox.

Humm. Un-connecting from Twitter was easy, glad I went the route instead of making a dud FB. Yeah I think it's going to be really useful, it was worth the hassle in the end.
