Downton Abby
I spent my evening watching Downton Abbey - oh the costume porn!

For those out there like me who that don't have TV channels (or missed the original airing) PBS.com is posting full episodes for a limited time. Episode 1&2 expire on Feb 22.

The costumes are fabulous but then again early 19-teens fashions are amoung my favorites. It's great to see so many day/informal outfits from the period. So far my favorite is a darling black & white striped blouse Lady Mary wears in the second episode (which I can't find any pis of merh). The story is more engaging than I thought it would be too - full of upstairs and downstairs drama, as one would expect from the screenwriter of Gosford Park. The grounds of Highclere Castle and the cinematography are really lovely too. The opening sequence is not to be missed! This is a very high budget venture you can tell - yummy!

And the location was used in Jeeves and Wooster-I thought that looked like Totleigh Towers :)

It may have been another house though. Easy to confuse them fter not seeing them for so long. I should fix that :)

I don't think it is, at least the interiors are for sure not the same. I think I may need to watch J&W though just to make sure. Oh darn. :P

Silly Amazon indeed!

It's the whole thing. Of course, it's just season one with lots of season ending loose ends.

Season 2 now, please?

Mmm.. I love it, too. I bought it right after watching the first episode. It's AMAZING. So nice to see that period done so well.

I'm going to have to buy it for sure. For all the costume studying and drooling of course. :>

Yeah, I find the mechanics of how those old country houses worked quite fascinating. This series really does a good job of showing that...

I'm pleasantly surprised by the story so far. I expected it to be a little more melodramatic like the House of Elliot. The plot twists are interesting, not outrageous. It’ll be interesting to see where some of the storylines go.
