Oh I just found this trolling around the Met collection... sure looks like a gaulle to me!!!

Oh no I just made a gaulle tag... guess I really am doomed to make one now. :P

edited to add: While I am still trolling...
Also this fabric is cool.

My vote for koshka_the_cat's next project - pink+green, amazing and definitely not for muggles. Just saying...

I've seen it before, but it never clicked. Aha!

Still trolling... you have probally already seen this but you really need to make it... amazing and definitely not for muggles. Just saying... :>

I haven't seen it! And I loves it...

Hee.

That pleaty puckery whatever you'd call it fabric trim is just too pretty! And just the kind of thing I want to make. Despite the fact that I seem to be doing lots of simple things lately, I want to get away from that. The projects are just too fast!

jennylafleur From: jennylafleur Date: May 8th, 2010 01:11 am (UTC) (link)
You really aren't right. But you know that. :>

Totally - the trim is so pretty and different! It almost looks like smocking... lattice smocking is it called? Jonatha taught a class on it at CosCol or CosCon. Looks like taffeta to me, what do you think? This would be crisp and good to work with I should think.

It really does scream out "Katherine"...
koshka_the_cat From: koshka_the_cat Date: May 8th, 2010 01:13 am (UTC) (link)
Definitely looks like taffeta. And I'll have to look into lattice smocking. It definitely has a smocked look. And I apparently like saying definitely...

There are just some conversations that definitely need the word definitely. :>

Looks like Maggie has some links/instructions on her site: http://www.padawansguide.com/nightdress_makingof.shtml

They definitely do!

Ooh, I could do that...

You really need to make that dress, it's so cute!

LOL, you beat me in posting the link! I agree in that I thought of lattice smocking right away!

Please tell me you are making a gaulle for the Ice Cream Social!
jennylafleur From: jennylafleur Date: May 8th, 2010 01:14 am (UTC) (link)
Probally not - my perfect-for-a-gaulle-fabric isn't really ice-creamy. I was thinking a zone jacket... which is what got me on the Met site to research in the first place tonight. Maybe this is a sign though! I'm tempted though to use something else besides my olive and rust colored stripe. I wonder if I have enough of that butter yellow silk taffeta...
gilded_garb From: gilded_garb Date: May 8th, 2010 02:59 am (UTC) (link)
Ooooh, a zone jacket would be awesome too!

You are finding so many neat things on the Met site. I'm avoiding it because I have work to do and I know that once I start, I will get stuck there for hours. ;o)
jennylafleur From: jennylafleur Date: May 8th, 2010 11:44 am (UTC) (link)
Yeah, wise decision... I didn't mean to spend my whole evening on the site and yet somehow I did! :P

I totally love the Met's site. Now if they would actually display some of the items in the museum....grr...

I agree; but at least there is some way to "see" their collection, online. I wish they'd put out some really good collection catalogues.

At least their website is good... I wish more museums offered such good images and zooming etc.
