YEEEESSSSS!!!!! My Peacock dress decided to play nice and the toileing is all done! Can you believe it... I can't. No sleeve drama, less than 75 toiles, barely any drama. It's a miracle I tell you! See this frock was meant to be.

The underdress was pretty much just sewing up all the pins and markings from the fitting last night. Somehow I ended up with some fullness in the center front of the bodice but since it's not going to show anyway I just gathered it and eased it in. I kinda like it... I may even add some gathering on the top to the net overlay.

The beaded bodice was based on the underdress bodice and went together without any fuss. I love working with sleeveless garments!

Now to work on the finial beading design so I can order me some beads! :>

*happy happy dance*

That is such an elegant gown on you. It sets off your shape so beautifully!

Thanks so much! Well it sets off my shape in the corset anyway... it wouldn't be nearly so cute without all the steel boning! :>

*giggle* I know how that works! There are times when I get fed up with my vintage girdles, but the difference they make is so important, now that I'm used to how I look that way!

Ooh, I forgot to ask - what IS your corset, anyway? I've been longing to give late Edwardian a try, but haven't yet figured out a recommendation for corsetry.

My corset is a replica of the corset in Titanic. The pattern was custom made for me for a gal who, unfortunately, is no longer in business.

It's really a hybrid, half way between an S-curve and a teens style underbust (like the one in Corsets and Crinolines).

That is extremely helpful, lack of pattern notwithstanding! How do the S-curve come into it? I've seen pictures of women in them, but never understood the design/engineering that makes an S-curve different from other mid/late Victorian corsets.

This is kind of related, so I'll throw it in: I've been wondering, as of late, whether or not a long underbust girdle like the Rago 1294 could conceivably work as a teens-era underbust corset, especially for a slender person (which I, admittedly, am not). Unlike a corset, it has stretch, but it seems like it gives a similar shape, squishing in the hips more than the waist. I have to imagine it would work in a pinch, though finding the right bra to go with it could be tricky.

Forgot to add - the toile looks great! :)

Wow! The fit through the waist is so smooth - super flattering too!

Thanks! Darts, they really can be lovely things! Yeah I was a little worried whether this would be flattering or not but I really like it. :>

Yay! It gives such a nice shape and silouette!

Thanks! I have to give all the credit on the shape to the corset though... well most of it anyway. :>

Thanks so much! I was a little worried about how flattering it would be but I already feel like a pretty, pretty princess and that is in the whackado toile fabrics... a good sign I think. :> I just can't wait to get to the beading...
