RE: the Diva dress
Just keep sewing, just keep sewing...

This dress has to be one of the most discouraging projects ever. I'm trying to keep myself modivated with the thought of how lovely it's going to turn out and how much of a pretty, pretty princess I'm going to feel in it but it's been hard going. Seems like I'm working slower than molasses but progress is being made...

Let's see, so far I've had to cut the bodice twice, sew the straps on three times, re-work the neckline twice (somehow it ended up way too high), trim down the armcyle and try it on countless times to double check everything. *sigh* I think part of the problem is the grainline I used, you know to create a pretty V in front. Even though I've used this grainline, which is based on one in Arnold, on previous dresses without issue this fabric doesn't seem to like it. That doesn't explain all the issues I've been having though.

What a bratty outfit!!! I'm doing my best to just beat the wretched thing into submission though.

Hang in there! I'm sure it will be lovely!

probably too late now, but if you're cutting the fronts off-grain to show off the pattern of the fabric, you may want to consider flatlining the bodice with something on-grain to keep the biases from doing unexpected things.

And spangles are always a yes!

Oh great tip - thanks so much! It's really just one side of the bodice that is giving me fits. If it continues to be a butt I may just rip it out completely and do just that. I was flat-lining everything anyway so it would be an easy fix...

And welcome back - it's good to hear from you again and see what you've been up to! I love the new user name too. :>

Oh no!!! :( How rotten.
Every time my project is a brat I think of you and your bratty project and somehow it encourages me to keep plugging away at it. You're very a very encouraging role model!
*hugs*

Don't forget that your willingness & ability to redo the things that are peeving you is testament to your skill as a seamstress!

I am impressed that you're sticking out this bratty dress! I've had much less frustrating projects that got stuck away for a year or more to think on their bad behavior. Sometimes it helps ;) Sometimes I think of a solution as well.

Oh I've had my fair share of those projects too! Had quite a few last year actually...

Beat it with a big stick and send it to bed without any supper ;)
You'll sort it out, you know you can do it! And so do all your costuming cheer leaders :D

Very tempting that. Mostly I've just been giving it the silent treatment. And putting it in the corner and ignoring it for periods of time, so it can think about what it's done.

Thanks Darling! *hugs*

It's going to be very very pretty when it's beaten into shape.
