nothing like a last minute project

I started on my Scarlet Pimpernel outfit at the quilting fellowship tonight. I ripped the panels for the petticoat and have sewn them together. Next up pleating!

I spent the rest of my evening surfing the web for more/better pics of the outfit. Found a few (mostly from christineandreas.com) but dang, it is hard to find pics of old Broadway shows! I did find a nearly identical fashion plate in my files though (from costumes.org) - very cool!

As I was cutting/ripping tonight I discovered that I didn't have as much of the pink taffeta as I thought I did. However I do have the old Cynthia dress that I can cut up. I like the gown but it's served it's purpose... Much better to be used for something that I can actually wear rather than hang in a closet looking pretty, right? :>

Wow, that Scarlet Pimpernel dress is gorgeous! I can see why you'd want to make it!

OMG, Jenny Rose you'll look fabulous in that! Are you going to try and gt this done for costume college or is this for a future event?

*blushes* Thanks! Yep, this is for CC. I am insane! I'm not going to stress out about getting all the trim on in time for CC, although some would be nice.

What a cool little design feature! It reminds me of that green dress with the white "teeth" (for lack of a better word) in What Clothes Reveal.

This is going to look great, and I'm really eager to see how you do the zone front, since I'm hoping to do one of those in the next few months. Lead me, Jenny!

You mean this dress? I love that dress (it's actually midnight blue) - I'd seen the shark-tooth trim in fashion plates but this is the only extent gown I've seen. The silk trimming was sewn with tiny running stitches I remember. Well I'm going to keep the zone real simple, based on one that Kendra told me about seeing during her research trip last year. :>

Isn't that funny! It was totally green in my head! Wishful thinking, I guess...since I love green so much. But yes, that one! Can't wait to see this one progress

You probably hadn’t noticed but I'm a big fan of green too but I really loved this blue. It was nice to see a dark color for something different. In the low lighting it almost looked like a navy blue from far away!

Yay for the Scarlet Pimpernel! I had no idea you were going to do this. Fantastic!

And THAT is a HAT!

I didn't know I was going to do it until a week or so ago! Totally a spur of the moment, but I had time for something 18th century (I can do that fast) and the perfect fabric already in the house. Of course it's been on The List (TM) for years...

"SINK ME!"
that's an amazing dress! I can't wait to see your version, it'll look amazing on you. Will you have a place, after CC, to wear it?

La Madame! How you do flatter! :>

Umm... I may be able wear it to one of the holiday events later this year but it's really late (and dramatic) for RCHS events. I’m making it for the pure joy of doing so. Also I'm a firm believer of 'make the frock and the occasion will come'. :P
